Lounge Bottle Wall Behind Armchairs

A bottle wall used as the backdrop to seating, so the storage does the work of a feature wall and does not need to be hidden behind doors.

What the photographs show

Armchairs and side tables in front of a lit bottle wall, with the bottles at the height of a seated eye. The wall is the feature of the room; there is no artwork competing with it.

What the build had to solve

Behind seating the eyeline matters more than the capacity. The display band sits at seated eye height, storage continues below, and the lighting is baffled so a person sitting in front of it is not looking into a strip. Doors, where fitted, are hinged so nobody has to move a chair to open one.

What to copy, and what to avoid

Worth copying: baffled lighting at seated height. Worth avoiding: an unbaffled strip behind a chair — the glare is worse than the display is good.

Questions on this scene

What clients ask about a room like this one

How far should seating sit from the wall?

Far enough that a chair can be pulled out without touching a door, and close enough that the bottles are in view when seated. The drawing usually ends up at about a chair depth.

Does a bottle wall need to be cold?

In a lounge, no. A passive wall in a temperature-stable room holds bottles for months; a cooled cabinet is for ageing or for a room that swings hard.
