Glass for Wine Cabinets

Glass decides what the room sees and what the wine is protected from. On a cooled cabinet it also decides whether the door fogs.

On a cooled unit, glass is a system

Double glazing alone is not enough. The warm face still drops below the dew point in a humid room, which is why a cooled cabinet uses double-glazed Low-E panels with a low-wattage heated perimeter on the warm side.

A fluted panel is the exception: the extra surface area makes the perimeter heater work harder, and on a very humid site we will advise clear glass with a tint instead.

Questions

The questions that come up before an order

Can I change the glass after ordering?

On an uncooled cabinet, yes — the panel is set into the frame and can be swapped. On a cooled unit the heated perimeter is wired into the frame, so it is a factory decision.

Does fluted glass reduce visibility?

It reduces definition, not light. Bottles read as shapes, which is usually the intent.
